Monday afternoon of this week was absolutely beautiful. I knew there weren't going to be too many more warm and sunny fall afternoons, and couldn't bring myself to sit inside all day. So I put on my running shoes and headed out into the yard for a little while. Because we have a large yard and garden, there is no shortage of work to be done out there. It's easy to get overwhelmed by it all. I just tackle it a little bit at a time, and do what I can. The earth won't stop spinning if every leaf isn't in place before the first snowfall. And some tasks are best done after a good freeze, anyway.
On Monday, though, I managed to:
This guy, who was also enjoying the sunshine, let me get pretty close to him before darting off to find some more seeds for his winter storage.
Later that afternoon, my friend Terri and I went for another good walk together, enjoying our friendship and the sunshine.
